You can format and re-format a cd-rW and mount it as a drive and move 
files there at your convenience. Think of it as a huge floppy disk. The 
last I heard, it was still somewhat slow. (It's been over a year since 
I have had any interest) Jens Axboe maintains a "packet writing" list
