Why not just emerge -e world ?

What will that do? I've read man emerge, --emptytree but I didn't understood. What will that do? Will it reinstall all my packages?
Indeed, including the base system. It may be quicker to re-install from scratch, (if you use stage 2 or 3), and starting from scratch may well avoid any security holes as mentioned by others, but emerge -e world will rebuild your system package by package and fix any corrupted binaries/incorrect compiler flags you had before.
Huummmm, can I boot with Gentoo CD, configure my net access, chroot to my partition and emerge -e world?
Yep... does the main system not boot?
What are your current CFLAGS? Make sure they are suitable before executing an emerge -e world.
