Hi all, I am running an old GCC from the Gentoo 1.1a days. I keep up to dates on packages but I never update GCC. I remember there used to be some issues move from GCC 2.95 to 3, but perhaps now enough time has passed that this is a simple process.
I'm curious if there are any built in tools to make this transition a bit easier (or a good link w/ directions). Are there any pitfalls to avoid? Do all applications have to recompiled (or just the kernel?). I figured I'd atleast want to recompile the big things like X, but I'm not sure if its an all or nothing deal. Also for some reason I've been having trouble w/ mail coming to me from gentoo.org. It was broke last week, then it worked for a few days, now its broke again. So please make sure you CC me. And if else who is on freeshell.org and knows what the deal w/ the mail that would be helpful.
