yesterday I first time started to play with mainboard equipped with Athplon-XP CPU...
and have to say it's not so easy, like I expected ...
Firstly I installed RH9.0 on hde ( hde3 /, hde1 /boot, hde2 /swap hde5 /home )
I had to increase CPU voltage, because othervise installation fails (no overclock used!)
After succesfull install I made the same partitioning on hdg drive, made ext3 filesystems,
mounted, untared stage1 tarball, chrooted modified make.conf, and run env-update and bootstrap ...
it fails ... so I increased the voltage for CPU again ... and it pass, but "emerge system"
fails again with the message:
sulogin.o(.text+0x9f5): In function `main': : undefined reference to `crypt' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make: *** [sulogin] Error 1 make: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....

Now I do not know what to do ...
have I to increase voltage with every new problem ? (maybe at the end I 'll run with CPU directly
connected to 230VAC ;-) )
I think it seems not to be a HW problem, because it fails exactly on the same error if repeated,
but on the other hand I made the same steps on P4 mainboard without any problem.
Changes made in make.conf :
USE="doc imap -ipv6 java jikes kde maildir ncurses -static svga tcpd" CFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -O2 -pipe"
