I recently purchased a HighPoint RocketRAID404 card, and found the same issue. None of the RAID modes work with the latest BIOS and the current open source driver. I want to use the RAID5 mode on it.
Presently I am in communication with Highpoint trying to get them to hurry up with the drivers. They say one month at the moment, but I have offered to help with any coding and testing and I'm waiting for a response on that. If you would email their tech support, say that you are gentoo user, and have heard that a gentoo developer is interested, and point them to my email address, maybe we can get them to speed up the process of releasing the driver faster. There are already binaries available for Redhat and SuSe, so it's just a matter of the open source drivers. BTW never use RAID0+1 if you can use RAID1+0, you get MUCH better performance and data integrity if you use RAID1+0. RAID0+1 = mirror of stripes (first failure takes out the 2 drives on that stripe, second failure being on the other stripe loses all your data). RAID1+0 = stripe of mirrors (able to lose 2 drives on different sets without any data loss) -- Robin Hugh Johnson E-Mail : [EMAIL PROTECTED] Home Page : http://www.orbis-terrarum.net/?l=people.robbat2 ICQ# : 30269588 or 41961639 GnuPG FP : 11AC BA4F 4778 E3F6 E4ED F38E B27B 944E 3488 4E85
