You also need to build the kernel with autostart on boot
for devfs.

I'm a little stuck.
I didn't build my kernel with devfs support.
So I set CONFIG_DEVFS_FS=y
rebuild the kernel
copy to /boot/bzImage
and then what?
I'm using grub and I've never used it before. IIRC
unlike lilo I don't have to run anything for it to be
"seen" the next time I boot the PC.
In the meantime, I'm still getting an error about /etc/rc
line 80... and then
I get this huge paragraph about installing DEVFS into the
kernel.
I haven't been able to find anything in dmesg or the logs
(metalog is new to me as well)...
