Correct me if I'm wrong but ACPI has nothing at all to do with sound. ALSA provides sound and ACPI performs power management. If you do want ACPI with gentoo-sources-2.4.19 then yes enable acpi4linux use flag. If you want ALSA you can either use a 2.5.x kernel or a 2.4.x kernel with alsa setup separately.
