After building a new kernel I need to remerge lm_sensors and nvidia-kernel, so I tell emerge AUTOCLEAN="no" to keep the existing instances for other kernel intact.
This has stopped working. Even with AUTOCLEAN="no" in /etc/make.conf, all previous versions are "Safely unmerged" after the merge. This means I can't boot into any kernel other that the last one used and have a working system, without having to remerge lm_sensors and nvidia-kernel.
