Popups
- mozilla and most browsers based on mozilla (galeon, galeon2,
firebird, epiphany) as well as opera and konqueror have the
ability to block popups, usually on by default
Banner ads
- There is an extension for mozilla that allows this called
adblock: http://texturizer.net/firebird/extensions.html#AdBlock
- You can run a proxy server such as squid and use something like
bannerfilter (google for it) to block ads this way
- use all of the above like I do and hardly ever see annoying ads!
