I can't seem to get this to work.

I create package.unmask and add this line to it (trying to prevent
downgrade of pan):

>=net-news/pan-0.14.0

and then I do:

# emerge -Duvlp world

which yields:

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating world dependencies ...done!
[ebuild    UD] net-news/pan-0.13.4 [0.14.0] +spell

I've tried putting package.unmask in /usr/portage/profiles,
/etc/portage, and /etc/portage/profiles; but I always get the same
(undesired) results.

How does package.unmask work?
