I was using the TightVNC 1.2.8 viewer for windows. I just tried 1.3dev1, and also tried changing the mouse tracking options around, but with no new results. I don't see any bugs that seem relevant in their bug tracker, but I'll try to take this up on their mailing list and see if they have any ideas. Of course if you have any more advice it's more than welcome.
