If you've now got 128MB of memory + 1024MB of swap then you should not have
any problems. I have 256MB of memory + 768MB of swap and have never ran out
of memory. Last night I was compiling the kernel, emerging openoffice and
playing Quake III at the same time without any memory problems. ;~)

What kernel are you running? If it's 2.6.0-test1, you didn't disable swapping
by accident? How much memory does top report?

Jason
