Yesterday I did an emerge sync, updated system, then started a world update. I canceled it on the qt update. Today I started the system with no problems, ran for a while (emerge sync) then shutdown. When I brought it back up I got init - spawning too fast, waiting 5 miuntes. I shutdown again (power off) and when I started again the ethernet module wouldn't load. Modprobe said it couldn't find the module even though it was in /lib/modules/*/kernel/drivers/net. I then did a make module module_install. After a shutdown, power off and restart the system came up and the eth0 module loaded as well as the others. However, even a simple command like ls gives me i/o error. Emerge qt gave me "can't remove /var/portage/qt... i/o error".
Any ideas what blew up and how do I fix this - if I can?? Thanks. -- Brett I. Holcomb AKA Grunt <>< -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
