I have a problem with my SCSI cdrom I have an adaptec controller 2940. My problem is:
kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k scsi_hostadapter, errno = 2
and then
---- CD not found
Does the following line exist in /etc/modules.d/aliases?
alias scsi_hostadapter aic7xxx
It needs to be there. If you added it, you will need to run modules-update and reboot.
(I'm assuming that you don't load this from an initrd. In this case, you would also need to add to your bootloader configuration the following append string:
initrd=/path/to/initrd_image
And the appropriate alias needs to be set in the initrd modules configuration)

I'm not new to linux but I have not done any of the bootloader things before
I have the gentoo screen after booting from cd where I can select the kernel and then it tries to boot and teh I'm in a shell or something else
Any help appreciated!!!
BTW: How small can gentoo be (MB)???
