1. Almost guaranteed never need to reinstall my system, unless major
glibc changes (not very often).

2. Since I only sync every two weeks and seldom need more than a half
dozen updates, I'm not putting an unreasonable load on the mirrors. 
None of that sync every few hours nonsense for me.
