Lately, I've noticed that X seems to take entirely too long to come up.
After starting xdm, the machine takes as much as perhaps 25 to 35
seconds to display the login screen -- it used to take just one or two --
and switching to the X virtual terminal from a console takes 12 seconds
or more: at first, I just get a blank VC, then the XDM panel is partially
displayed for another five seconds or so with a frozen cursor, before I
can log in. My XF86Config is attached. As implied in the file, I'm using
a Rage128 (yes, old) with a PS2 mouse. The setup has worked in the past
without problems... I'm using ~x86 world, though.
