[gentoo-user] package.mask editing?

Hello,

I can edit my package.mask, but on an 'emerge rsync' all the changes get lost.

Is it possible to handle that file like the /etc files? I would like to get the new package.mask file and merge the changes into it.

How can I do that? (like etc-update for package.mask)
