I filed a bug for you: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28469 ...and assigned it to me. Will look into it before I roll the next genkernel release. did you use vanilla-sources-2.4.22 or did you grab the kernel sources by hand? Oh, create a bugzilla account at http://bugs.gentoo.org and reply by adding a comment to the bug :) you should also be able to add yourself to the cc: list for the bug after you have an account.
