If you install KDE using GRP, the XFree will be automatically installed for
you too (as a dependency). Depending on what LiveCD you are using GNOME might
not work for GRP as there was an issue with it.
To get onto the internet you don't really need XFree with KDE/GNOME, even
non-graphical apps exist, but that would place you in the domain of "geeks"
:-)
