hello.

i have problems with this too ebuilds libwww and xerces.
first libwww (4.3.0 iirc - the newest, i've even rsync for sure after first
unsuccessfull emerging). after emerge command it ./configures well, but
compilation is stoped by an compiler error "implict declaration of function".
I'm not ebuild-geek but cat libwww.ebuild and according what i've found them and
to ma USE flags i've compilled libwww manually with full success (all --with and
--without seems to be same as in ebuild). I'm confused i do not even have any
idea what is a diffrence... Any ideas?

Second xerces [emerged in order to use xalan]. Java version. After succesfull
ant emerging, xerces time and... error. I even can't say what, because ant says
nothing interesting :(. The queer thing is that more than half year ago I have
the same problem ;(

PS: the first problem is very *big* problem to me 'cause i cannot compile tetex
and php! When i can image why libwww is needed by php, i cannot findout why in
tetex [latex2html ? :>].

PS2: huh, should probably go in separate post, but whatever. I do not uses ~x86
very often - to be honest i've done it just once - 'cause of idesk and
extraordinary needed feauters of ~x86 version. Now, when I do #emerge -up world,
emerge wants to downgrade it to stable :> [ok. testing :)] version ;). is there
a way to say portage to keep away from this one?

Another strange thing with portage is apache. I've already emerged 2.0.x after
quite big crash of my hdd and emerging mod_ssl finishes with... downgrading it
to 1.3.x branch :> Queer, afair last time i installed this stuff there was no
downgrade [and apache was 2.0.x - i'm sure]. Any ideas about it?
