I tried what you said and changed the MAKEOPTS line in make.conf but I still get the same error. I appreciate your suggestion. This is not a major deal, I still am using the emu10k1 driver for my SB Live and I do have sound. I just wanted to see if I could get alsa up and running to give my sound some life. :-) Thanks again.
