Are you using the XFree driver, or the one from NVidia? Using
the XFree driver, I am able to use a little utility called nvtv
(I think it's available in portage) to turn the TV and CRT on and
off. It is able to display the screen on both devices at once.
It works wonderfully on my GeForce2 MX. Dunno if things change
when you have a GeForce4 or not, but you might want to look into
it.
