You dont have to compile lm_sensors in the 2.6 kernel, just modprobe the
required sensors modules (in my case its w83781d) and config gkrellm
sensors to display the temps and voltages.

If gkrellm doesnt display the temps with your sensors chip (e.g.it87) then
for now you can get the readings from /sys/devices/legacy/i2c-0/

Hopefully when the 2.6 kernel is out of testing, gkrellm sensors will
automatically display temps/volts for all the chips.

The following is quoted from the lm_sensors download site:

"Support for I2C and sensor chips is included in recent 2.5/2.6 kernels,
so you don't need to download anything here (and it wouldn't work anyway).
Userspace tools are not working with these kernels though. We are working
on it, please be patient."
