This is what I was told to do Chris:

ymessenger-1.0.4.1 is in ~x86 so ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge ymessenger. This will 
install
rpm2tgz and install ymessenger that works. The problem with all the other IMs is 
because Y!
changed the password encryption. People are looking at it.

Don't emerge -u as this will update other things from ~x86 not having to do with 
ymessenger, just
do an ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge -p ymessenger and it should only be a few files. 
Then just run
the whole command again without the -p to install.
