I can recommend you Shorewall too. It is great tool, I am not so skilled with iptables (I use ipf and ipfw on my freebsd box & servers, so no iptables/shorewall), so I really appreciate how well shorewall is done and documented. Even my friend who is total unfamiliar with iptables did understand shorewall concepts quickly.
