Quick and dirty answer..... :)

If you don't find anything on the Gentoo forums related to this (your specific 
problem) then I
would open up a Bugzilla account and search the Bugzilla database for any matches 
against the
output that you received. I don't know what meritt's opening a bug ticket with them. I 
suppose
thats up to you.

Just rsync again. I had that problem and some hours later the needed 
xfree version was marked stable.
