hi all!

i found another wierd problem with the binary installation of KDE from CD2.
i usually do everything with sources, but i don't really want to let my laptop
take fire with the overall gentoo compiling process.
that's why i'm using GRP.
now, the problem:

system is booting alright, i did a:

# emerge -k xfree

and it went ok, test is ok, no errors on the log files. then i wishfully typed

#emerge -k kde

emerge was ok, but trying (as the Gentoo Desktop Guide says)

#kdm

to see if i can login, it flashed a few times and then it gave up.
kdm.log says it couldn't find libart_glpg_2.so.2
so i did

#emerge -k libart

and the libriaries were found (why didn't kde emerged this dependecy of his??)
however it still doesn't work.

#kdm

now gives me a (black and white) login but kde won't start, because it can't
start kdeinit daemon. in the kdm.log it also says that kdmrc is not found,
together with other files.

Has anyone already encountered this problem and overcome it ?
tomorrow i'll post the logs as well (i forgot'em at home)

TIA !!!!

 R#
