Yes, I have PORTDIR_OVERLAY defined, but this doesn't really address my question. In particular, I had some difficulty installing the patch from a gentoo maintainer:
# ebuild gnome-panel-2.4.0-r2.ebuild unpack !!! aux_get(): ebuild for '/gnome-panel-2.4.0-r2' does not exist at: !!! /usr/portage//gnome-panel/gnome-panel-2.4.0-r2.ebuild gnome-panel-2.4.0-r2.ebuild is in the pwd (~root), from whicn I'm running this command. What am I missing? The man page defines the syntax as 'ebuild file command [command]...' I get the same error whatever command I try to run w. ebuild. What am I doing wrong?
