Can I run two (or more) simultaneous instances of emerge? Would this

This has been discussed loads of times (last time 2 days ago) please check the archives for lots of different oppinions.
I did it on several occasions, checking well that it didn't involve the same packages. I do not think it speed things up so. Now I only do it if I have one big emerge (like world update) running and want some small program "right now".

Also, is there a difference in specifying a package name by its
fully-qualified name as opposed to just the package name? In other
words, is there any difference between the following:

emerge net-www/mozilla-firebird

emerge mozilla-firebird

If not, why would you ever use one over the other (unless two or more
packages had the same name)?

Exactly in that case, or perhaps in scripts to make things more obvious.

Christian
