And just what would lead you to believe that you can "mount" an audio or video
cd that has no filesystem?  

"mount" is for filesystems!!! memorize this please!  

For other types of cd's, you just play them (unmounted) with the appropriate
software, e.g. mplayer xmms, etc., etc.
