BTW to get automatic full logging of emerge output, make a directory at /var/
log/portage. Emerge will automatically detect its existence and log each 
package. Be aware that this directory can get quite big quite quickly, 
however.
 

After working for more than 72 hours, finally I have KDE-3.1.4 installed 
on Gentoo 1.4.

Having completed Code listings 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.5, 3.6, 3.7 and 3.8, now 
I have KDE running on Gentoo 1.4.
Rebooted PC starting KDE automatically

Ctrl + Alt + F2  change to text mode
Ctrl + Alt + F7  change to graphic mode
all found working
But nothing was found under /var/log/portage/

Lot of thanks for all of you providing me support during installing 
KDE-3.1.4
