Well, I changed the motherboard in my system and now I can't get the grub screen to show. Here is what I did:
I had my original system set up to boot from hde, as that was the address of my promise ide card (mobo only did ATA 33). It worked fine. So, I changed it and moved the hard drive (only one in the system) to hda. I changed grub.conf to reflect the changes and rebooted. What I get, after POST, is a screen loaded with GRUB filling endlessly. I found a note in the forums about grub being screwed up, so I re-installed grub after chrooting from the gentoo CD. I did: root (hd0,0) setup (hd0) All succeeding with no errors. I still get the screen full o' GRUBs. I can't think of anything else to try. Can anyone suggest anything?
