Thanks a lot.  I have only used menuconfig to compile my kernels.  This was 
the first time I ever used xconfig.  What a beauty I might add.

Oh yeah, the 2.6 kernel is now working!!!  I did make one more mistake by 
enabling pcmcia as a module when I should have left it unchecked so the 2.6 
kernel could not detect my nic card.  Easily solved by recompiling the 
kernel.  I also forgot to re-emerge the ip_tables.  I am going to see if I 
can get ALSA to work too.  I was unsuccessful in the 2.4 kernel.

Thanks for help.  I hope to finish this sometime in the afternoon.
