Same happened to me a month or two back, possible when I ctrl-C'd out of
an emerge.  None of the suggestions on the list helped, so I ran "emerge
-e world" which picked up most of the dependencies.  I then had the idea
of copying over (after cleaning it up manually) a world file from
another machine, then a simple script to test each entry for unmerged
entries/dependencies.

Still getting an occasional package I know I installed, but isnt showing
up though.  Lot of work and no easy fix that I can see.
