I compiled all the pcmcia stuff as modules. I then emerged pcmcia-cs and update-modules. When I lsmod, all the same modules that I use in the 2.4 kernel are there. They also load up with no problem. I am pretty sure that I have all the necessary modules compiled in the kernel. >Do you have your /etc/init.d/net.* scripts auto-starting? How do I that? I think I do??? I am beginning to suspect that my /etc/pcmcia/config.opts may be the problem. During load up, card manager cannot find the sockets.
