have hacked on the original ebuild created by Leon Breedt & Stuart Herbert, 
with the following changes:

1. have created a new init script, which works around the (apparent) fact 
    that start-stop-daemon can't write a pidfile after going suid
2. have upgraded the files installed to the latest version, 2003.1
3. have added the new gui, p4v, which is distributed in RPM format.
    ( slight hack using rpm2targz, which i've just realized I should add to 
the dependencies :)

It's still x86 only, I'll work on ppc soon, but will need help on other 
platforms.
