* 256mb ram
installing
* stage1-x86-1.4-20030910.tar.bz2 from livecd
compiler optimization

* CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
i followed the installation instructions step-by-step and did a
bootstrap.sh --fetchonly before running the script.
now, executing bootstrap.sh results in an error:

!!! (no error message)
i searched in the gentoo forums, the mail-archiv and bugs.gentoo.org -
and i seams to be a quite popular bug. some suggest to use
gettext-0.12xxx instead. but how? others talk about changing the
compiler settings etc.
i am totally helpless :(
