Hey all,
I have a little problem with Gaim. The window size of the buddy list and the message windows are huge. I thought it was because I used the gtk2 flag when compiling, so I unemerged the package and tried emerging it with USE='-gtk2 gtk' flags, and still no dice. The windows are still large, and if I try to resize the message windows, all the buttons get scrunched together.
Gaim 0.60 and newer only support gtk2, changing USE flags makes no difference.
As for your problem, define huge? Are your font sizes really big? maybe you should change them with gnome's font panel, or (if you dont use gnome) switch2 (part of x11-themes/gtk-theme-switch ).
Also, maybe you will want to use the gaim preferences, specifically the "buddy list", "IMs", and "Chats" pages and change the buttons to "Pictures" instead of the default "pictures and text".
You can also adjust initial window sizes there. The initial sizes are probably already much smaller than what is created simply due to the size of the default buttons. You can also turn off the formatting toolbar as of 0.72 (maybe 0.71) for some extra space.
There's probably a very simple solution, but I haven't stumbled acrossed it yet. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
