I have a similar but different question :) How can I *disable* the boot logo but still maintain framebuffer startup?
I have a problem at the moment (actually not right at this point as the machine is in bits, but prior to yesterday I had it), whereby: A) framebuffer would start, in 16bit depth, with a boot logo, and then enable a bootsplash to be displayed behind the console text at the end of startup using the init scripts (after manually emerging bootsplash due to it being masked) B) if I enabled ANY initrd the kernel would crash instantly when starting, and lock the machine up requiring a cold boot (while flashing the keyboard lights at me) - obviously stopping me from having a splash screen hide all of init! I don't know if maybe I'm missing something out of my kernel configuration (initrd is enabled, as is all the necessary framebuffer stuff - I'm using matroxfb), or if the kernel really doesn't like the settings I'm running the framebuffer at (768x288, 15.75Khz horizontal refresh :D), but since it works perfectly once the kernel has started up the only thing I can think of is maybe the bootlogo/initrd are conflicting somehow. If anyone has any idea's I'd really appreciate them!
