Hi. I posted this a while ago, but didn't get any helpful answer there... I've got an ASUS A7V8X mainboard, which has a KT400 chipset, and I've got a ATI Radeon 9800 Pro graphics card. I can't get this working with X and any other driver than the vesa-vga driver :( The problem is, that the agpgart-driver, which is needed for the ati-drivers, does not support agp3 (agp-4x) which is by default enabled in the Radeon-card. I googled _a lot_ to find any suggestions, and I found many ways to disable agp3 in the mainboards bios, but that's not what I want. I've got winxp on another partition, and that benifits from that mode, so I want to leave it enabled at least for that OS. I do not need 3d-acceleration under linux, but something more than 60 Hz on the x-desktop would be _really_ nice :) Now my question: Has anybody got this kind of hardware-combination running with any other (better) X-mode ? Which kernel do you use ? Which drivers do you use ?
