yes, puts you right into it and remembers the last configuration
etc... (I tell you, this gentoo has made me as lazy as a dog on a
porch;-).  then usually it does a make module_install, a busybox
something or rather (builds initrd??) then copies the kernel to /boot
but it didn't seem to be getting their for me.
