Emerge the kernel you want, link /usr/src/linux to the new directory and then build it. Move the new bzImage to /boot with a new name of course. Modify grub, boot.

Hi all folks,

I am running kernel
(/usr/src/linux/Makefile)

VERSION = 2
PATCHLEVEL = 4
SUBLEVEL = 20
EXTRAVERSION = -gentoo-r7

and prepared upgrading it to r8

Kindly advise what will be the correct command line to upgrade kernel from Gentoo website to retain old kernel. So there will be 2 kernels at boot for selection. I use Grub.

Thanks in advance.
