udev will certainly be used by Gentoo *when* it is production-ready.
Currently, this isn't the case. Few drivers are udev-ready and the
documentation and support for udev and related tools is minimalistic. I
haven't even found a single developer/user that runs a udev-powered system
that doesn't use an old-style /dev or devfs for compatibility reasons.

People with good information about the workings of udev (on user-level and
system administrative level) are advised to add this info to the uDev guide
bugreport (http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27527)
