for the kde 2.3 beta2 part (i'm compiling it right now :). 
go to /usr/portage/kde-base/arts and issue

emerge -pv arts-1.2.0_beta2.ebuild (of course, remove the -p to 
actually  merge the package :)

then in /usr/portage/kde-base/kdelibs

emerge -pv kdelibs-3.2.0_beta2.ebuild

then in /usr/portage/kde-base/kdebase

emerge -pv kdebase-3.2.0_beta2.ebuild

and you now have a workable kde 3.2 beta2. (on a p3/750 this 3 
packages take more than 7 hours to compile).

After this, I use to install kdeartwork (more themes), kdenetwork and 
kdepim (cause i use kmail which is included in kdepim) . kdeadmin 
doesn't seem to compile for now (errors after the configure part).
