You must be running 8-bit color. What happens is that 8 bits isn't enough for all colors, so each application gets it's own color map. I have problems that only show up when using gtk toolkit items on KDE. I try to run a program like yahoo messenger and everything else on the screen is totally discolored on the screen except that application. a little different for vmware... it only affects inside the frame for vmware. I suspect that it may be the driver that I'm useing. I've been looking around at the XFree86 page and can't find anything spcifically related to my card (Radeon QD). can someone tell me where i can get a list of the modules loaded for X and if anyone else has seen this problem please let me know if you resolved it.
You should change the color depth of the X server to 16 or 24 bits - that should solve the problem.
