Anyways, I would highly suggest that you save yourself allot more time and install "Shorewall" as suggested. (you won't be disappointed)
Hi Joshua,
I followed your advice and just installed & configured shorewall.
WOW !! This is what i use to call a top-class firewall. It took me 30 minutes (between cigarette and hot chocolate) to configure the whole thing, including routing, policies/rules, port forwarding etc., no need to read any additional manual - only the two pages that explain 1) required kernel setup and 2) shorewall quick-setup.
You're right, one can't fail using that thing. It just reminds me of the luxury of 'Miami' on the Amiga (in the good ole' days).
However, all problems solved in 30 minutes, without needing to learn how to configure routing, NAT or that iptables horror on a Linux box.
I'm even willing to help you if you would like through my yahoo account or through my yahoo messenger account. Shorewall is almost too easy.
Thanks for that gentle offer, no longer required (for sure you knew that :)
Shorewall makes me smile for the first time since 6 days - my next email goes to the author..
