okay, the culprit here is mozilla, and thereby just about anything that
uses mozilla.  :-/

I havent dug in the sourcecode, however some strings and grep magic show
that it is three references in the moz libraries that are the cause :

libswft.so , libfreebl.a,  libsoftokn3.so

all of them use "netstat -ni" for something. My guess is to check wether
its online or not ,  or perhaps something else ;)


<defunct> state would mean that it doesn't let the program terminate
properly, so this is probably a mozilla bug. "wee" .  Feel free to file
at http://bugs.gentoo.org/   .  Dont forget "emerge info"
