Linux and Windows allocate memory exactly the other way around (as I recall).
This means that you could have an issue with one OS while the other complains.
Also Windows is more forgiving about buggy hardware. Linux complains as soon
as it detects something and Windows seems to try to work around it. Maybe your
RAM just got loose? I had similar problems with machines where one or the
other card came loose a little bit. Best thing is to press all your cards and
RAMs into the mobo to make sure. If it still complains you might want to run a
memtest.
