I had a problem building X after building a glibc based upon 2.6 headers (I made a linux-headers-2.6.0 ebuild). I have to note that I was also stuck with the pre-release version of glibc that has become the testing default in ~x86 ... it is a pain to try and manage a mixed x86 and ~x86 system so everything on my development station is ~x86.
