Before I reboot, have I created any problems? Like you I use grub. This emerge installed lilo. (I guess...it was in the list of things that got built.)

You have to create /etc/lilo.conf and run 'lilo' to install lilo into the MBR. If you haven't done this (you have no reason to) then you will be just fine.
